Alex Sweeney

Managing Director

Alex has spent the entirety of his professional life focused on the delivery of public services in healthcare, social care, criminal justice and immigration. He has a track record for delivering high-quality services which provide valued outcomes for both patients and commissioners.

Alex is committed to ensuring Xyla Elective Care is a purpose-led business which places clinical excellence and clinical pathway innovation at the heart of our services.

Matthew Cooke

Clinical Advisor

Matthew has spent his career working as an emergency medicine consultant in the NHS and as Professor of Clinical Systems Design at Warwick Medical School. He has also held various positions with national bodies, including being the National Clinical Director for Emergency Care and was an advisor to the World Health organisation.

Since retiring from clinical practice he has continued to work locally, nationally and internationally on aspects of service redesign, digital healthcare, clinical leadership and patient safety.

Sam Tennant

Operations Director

Sam has held senior positions for the last 10 years within healthcare managed services, clinical workforce and commercial operations. He has operational oversight of all Xyla Elective Care services across acute, community and virtual delivery models.

Prior to taking on this role, Sam led the creation and development of Xyla Diagnostics, the UK’s largest private echocardiography provider and now the expert cardiac diagnostics arm of Xyla Elective Care.

Claire Fisher

Chief Nurse

Claire has over 20 years’ experience as a nurse. She has held many senior roles as Head of Nursing and more recently as Director of Clinical Services.

Claire is the clinical lead for Xyla Elective Care and leads the Medical Advisory Group.

Steve Morley

Business Development Director

Steve is an experienced and versatile business development, contract and project management professional with over 20 years in strategic and operational business delivery in managing stakeholder relationships within central/local government, voluntary and community and private sector providers.

Steve is responsible for all Xyla Elective Care growth activity across insourcing, community and virtual services.
